    The Ice Age Trail Alliance is a non-profit, volunteer and member based organization headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Established in 1958, it now has over 5,000 members who support the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.  The Indianhead Chapter (based in St. Croix Falls) hosts numerous hikes, trail improvement days and presentations by glacial geologists throughout the year.

    The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon commemorates the life of John Beargrease, the son of a Chippewa chief who delivered mail by dog sled along Lake Superior's rugged North Shore in the late 19th century.  The Beargrease is the longest and most challenging of sled dog events in the lower 48 states.
